Do You Need an Insulated Jacket?

If your island has wood framing, wood siding or any other material that can burn, the appliance maker calls for an insulated jacket around the grill or burner. The jacket creates a barrier between the hot appliance and the structure. Islands built only from non combustible materials, like steel framing and cement board, usually do not need one, but always follow the appliance manual.
